The Cameroon Football Federation revealed in a report that several players of the national football championship had falsified their age.
In Cameroon, as in many other African countries, the issue of age is one of the most popular plagues rocking football development. It has become one of the main battles of the African Football Confederation and national football associations. It is in this line that FECAFOOT has been working to tackle the problem. The institution has just published a list of MTN Elite 1 clubs having players with age identity issues.
The list includes Victoria United midfielder Wilfried Nathan Douala. He participated in the last AFCON and was reported to be 17 years old. There are six other players from Victoria United, 13 from the Young Sport Academy, 07 from AS Fortuna, 05 from UMS de Loum, 05 from Colombe, 04 from Gazelle, 04 from Dynamo, 03 from Union de Douala, 03 from Fovu, 02 from Apejes, 02 from PWD de Bamenda, 02 from Bamboutos, 02 from Astres de Douala, 02 from Avion du Nkam and 01 from Fauve Azur.
The players whose clubs have qualified for the play-offs, will not take part in the competition. The clubs with clean records are Canon Yaoundé, Coton Sport Garoua, Aigle Royal and Stade Renard Melong.
