The contribution of income-generating activities (IGAs) to the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Cameroon and their impact on sustainable economic development was discussed during a meeting which took place in Yaounde.

Stakeholders came together to analyse the role of IGAs in job creation and economic empowerment, on the initiative of Fondation Foretia’s Centre for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (Sbec). The role of IGAs in stimulating innovation, creativity and economic diversification in the entrepreneurial ecosystem was first assessed by these stakeholders. Concluding the discussions, Pauline Eyebe, Coordinator of the NGO dubbed Partenariat France et Afrique pour le co-développement (PFAR), explained that IGAs are important because they support the national economy; “the impact of income-generating activities (IGAs) must be measurable in social, economic and human terms (indicators) in order to strengthen, create and develop first the communities and then the nation,” she continues, “but the problem is how we look at these activities.”
