In celebration of the 41st International Women’s Day, the Ministry of Tourism and Leisure (MINTOUL) has transformed its headquarters into a culinary showcase through a mini-gastronomic fair.
Hosted under the global theme “Rights, Justice, Action for All Women and Girls,” the event is currently taking place at the Ministry’s “pink” building” and main parking area. This initiative brings together talented women entrepreneurs from across the tourism and hospitality sectors, providing them a high-profile platform to exhibit the rich flavors and artistic presentation of Cameroonian cuisine.

The fair received a significant boost with a visit from the Secretary General of the Ministry, Mr. Ndioro A. Mamoum, who toured the various stands to engage directly with the exhibitors. During his visit, the Secretary General commended the women for their creativity and unwavering commitment to promoting local gastronomy.
His presence underscored a vital message: women are not just participants in the tourism industry; they are the primary custodians of Cameroon’s vast culinary heritage and essential drivers of its modern development.
Guests and participants at the fair were treated to a sensory journey through the country’s diverse regions, savoring a wide array of traditional dishes that reflect the unique culture and “know-how” of the Cameroonian people.

This communal experience served as more than just a tasting event; it was a celebration of identity and a practical demonstration of how traditional skills can be translated into viable economic opportunities for women in the service industry.

By organizing this gastronomic fair, MINTOUL is actively contributing to the broader goal of women’s empowerment and national progress. The initiative highlights the Ministry’s dedication to ensuring that women in the tourism sector have the visibility and support necessary to thrive. As the 41st International Women’s Day celebrations continue, the fair stands as a testament to the power of female entrepreneurship in preserving culture while fostering sustainable economic growth.
