Fovu Club of Baham won the 2023 edition of the Cameroon football cup on Sunday September 24, 2023 with a 2-0 victory over PWD of Bamenda.
The closing ceremony of the 2022-2023 sports season, which included the final of the Cameroon football cup, was held last Sunday September 24 at the Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium. Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute, representing the President of the Republic, presided over the ceremony. The football final pitted Fovu Club of Baham against the PWD (Public Work Department) of Bamenda. After 90 minutes of play, the club from the West region ran out 2-0 winners.
Under the guidance of experienced coach Emmanuel Ndoumbe Bosso, his players showed more spirit. Fovu relied heavily on their new recruits to lift the trophy for the third time in their history. The club had previously won the title in 2001 against Canon deYaoundé and in 2010 against Astres of Douala.The Abakwa boys never gave Fovu much to worry about. PWD played this final with a completely different squad. The club had lost a number of key players including Leonel Ateba, Etta Bawak and Karim Bello.
