The 26th edition of the FENASSCO League “A” national finals reached a spectacular climax on Sunday, April 26, 2026, transforming the West Region into a vibrant hub of sports and tourism.

Over seven days of intense competition in Bafoussam and Bangangté, the event that began on April 20th and ended on April 26, showcased a “harvest of talent” across diverse disciplines, including athletics, volleyball, football, and handball. Under the close supervision of the Minister of Secondary Education, the games were lauded for their commitment to transparency and social inclusion, providing a platform for both traditional and inclusive sports.

The competitive spirit of the games saw the host West Region emerge as the overall champion, asserting their sporting supremacy by topping the medal table. They were followed closely by the Centre and Littoral regions, respectively. A major highlight of the closing day was the highly anticipated boys’ football final between the Littoral and South-West regions.

In a tense encounter played before members of the government and an enthusiastic crowd, the South-West delegation ultimately secured victory and the gold medal following a dramatic penalty shootout.

Beyond the trophies and medals, the 2026 finals served as a powerful cultural melting pot, reinforcing national unity through school sports. The closing ceremony was rich with symbolism, celebrating the collective effort of hundreds of young athletes who shone throughout the week.

The successful organization, overseen by the FENASSCO Board of Directors, emphasized that these games are about more than just physical excellence; they are a vital pillar for social cohesion and the holistic development of Cameroonian youth.

The event officially concluded at 12:45 PM with the solemn extinguishing of the Olympic flame. In a traditional passing of the torch, the Olympic flag was handed over to the Centre Region, which has been designated to host the 2027 edition of the school games.

As delegations begin their journeys home, the spirit of the Bafoussam games remains alive, with athletes and organizers already shifting their focus toward the next gathering of the nation’s brightest young sporting talents in the capital region.
