The 13th session of the National Technical Committee for the General Census of Agriculture and Livestock – RGAE convened in Yaounde under the co-chairmanship of the Minister of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries – MINEPIA and the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development – MINADER. This high-level meeting underscored the interministerial synergy powering a statistical enterprise critical to securing Cameroon’s food sovereignty.
Deliberations centered on three major priorities designed to shape national policy. Members thoroughly evaluated and adopted the RGAE’s 2026 performance plan, ensuring strict budgetary and methodological rigor. Additionally, the committee reviewed the progress of recommendations from its twelfth session, assessing implementation milestones and addressing operational bottlenecks on the ground.
A central focus was the mid-term evaluation of the joint census currently deployed across the national territory. This collaborative approach pools human, logistical, and technical resources to establish an exhaustive mapping of livestock, cultivated areas, and agricultural holdings across the country.
Ultimately, the data generated by the RGAE will provide the scientific foundation for Cameroon’s second-generation agricultural policies. These evidence-based strategies are intended to drive structural transformation and guide the nation toward its broader goal of agropastoral emergence by 2035.
