Cameroon’s Minister of Economy, Planning, and Regional Development, Alamine Ousmane Mey, received a delegation from the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria during an audience on August 3, 2026.
Led by Osian Jones, Head of the Grant Management Division, the bilateral meeting centered on reviewing ongoing health initiatives and deepening the strategic partnership between the international funding organization and the Cameroonian government.
During the audience, discussions centered on optimizing health financing mechanisms across the nation. The delegation highlighted the importance of establishing sustainable frameworks to ensure financial resources are effectively deployed to address priority health challenges, modernize infrastructure, and build long-term system resilience.
To support these objectives, the Global Fund announced a major financial commitment of €205 million for the 2027–2029 cycle. This new allocation will directly target the prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria, while supporting the expansion of primary care access across Cameroon’s regions.
This latest grant builds on a two-decade partnership during which the Global Fund has invested over $1 billion in Cameroon’s health sector. The continued collaboration underlines a shared commitment to improving public health outcomes and promoting sustainable human development throughout the country.
