Under the Special Emergency Plan of the President of the Republic, His Excellency Paul Biya, for the rehabilitation of the road network in the Yaounde VI Sub-Divisional Council, asphalt paving works officially launched on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.
Supervised by Mayor Jacques Yoki Onana, the project covers a 5-kilometer loop connecting Carrefour Banane to the Mendong Gendarmerie Brigade via Derrière Zibi, Mendong Derrière le Camp, and MAETUR Mendong.

Entrusted with the President’s utmost confidence to oversee the project from start to finish, the Mayor conducted an on-site inspection on opening day. His primary objective was to verify the mobilization of essential logistics, qualified personnel, and high-quality raw materials to ensure strict compliance with established paving standards.
In addition to technical readiness, Mayor Yoki Onana emphasized worker and public safety across the active construction zone. He stressed the strict enforcement of security measures aimed at preventing disruptions and maintaining a zero-accident record throughout the duration of the works.

Finally, the municipal executive engaged directly with local residents, the primary beneficiaries of the initiative, to build community support and raise awareness about protecting the new infrastructure.
Framed as a cornerstone of the “Seven-Year Term of Great Hopes” in Yaoundé VI, the project represents a key milestone toward achieving Cameroon’s Vision 2035 development goals.
