The Ministry of Defense and the National Employment Fund known by the French acronym FNE have signed a landmark partnership agreement to launch PROREC, a program dedicated to the professional reintegration of veterans and war victims into the society.
Presided over by Minister Delegate at the presidency in charge of Defense Joseph Beti Assomo and FNE Director General Mouthé à Bidias, the initiative seeks to revitalize the employment sector for former servicemen by helping them secure decent, well-paid jobs after retirement. By transitioning these individuals into productive civilian roles, the program aims to reduce unemployment while ensuring that those who served the nation with love and devotedness continue to live dignified and stable lives.
Since its establishment in 1990, the FNE has been a cornerstone of Cameroon’s labor market, successfully placing over 925,000 job seekers in the areas where there are employment and financing more than 80,000 small projects. Under the leadership of Mouthé à Bidias, the FNE will leverage its expertise in vocational training, self-employment promotion, and its network of 17 regional agencies to support the PROREC initiative. The Fund will offer its services free of charge—including data analysis, project funding, and specialized programs like the “Graduate Program” and rural employment initiatives—to transform veterans into active economic actors across the entire national territory, supported by funding from the Ministry of Defense.
Minister Joseph Beti Assomo emphasized that this partnership is a strategic component of national defense, acting as a vehicle for peace and a guarantee of social cohesion. By honoring the principles of “Honor and Fidelity,” the agreement strengthens the essential bond between the Armed Forces and the Nation, turning the reintegration of veterans into a collective endeavor for local defense and economic stability. The collaboration is expected to yield concrete, quantifiable results, serving as a model for future initiatives in vocational training and social integration while ensuring that the expertise of veterans continues to benefit the country’s development.
