Inhabitants of the Mbankolo community, especially women have been encouraged to engage themselves in activities that will help generate income for them and their families. This was during a workshop organized on April 25, 2026 at the Mbankolo neighborhood.

Organized by Tegwi Solange, CEO and Founder of Therapeutic Action Initiative Association – TAIA, the workshop that had as theme “When you hold my hand: Back to Eden” brought together a handful of participants who showcased their talents and know-how.

In her inaugural speech, Tegwi Solange pointed out that a good number of Women, made mostly of widows, single mothers, orphans and struggling women that engage in petti-businesses like selling boiled eggs, boiled groundnuts, natural dinks like folere, or homemade pasteries like scotch egg, pancakes, chin-chin, peanuts, puff-puff often find themselves slacking behind in their business due to the lack of finance and capital. A situation which she has decided to look into it. With her association TAIA, the founder is willing to support some of these women in her own little why.

“ According to the vision of the Therapeutic Action Initiative Association [TAIA], we want to be able to hold even if it’s the hand of one these ladies and follow them up until they are financially established to be able to help another woman or girl within this community,” said the founder as she flashed back the memories of the women to when there was no distinction as to whose father, mother, sister or brother it was. Everyone was everyone’s keeper.

Organized with the sole aim of bridging the gap between women and their empowerment, the participants received precious advices and listened to the elderly women who had experience in the domain. Amongst the matriarch present were Tegwi Divinisel, Tandong Mispa and Eyenga Philomene who have experience of ten plus in their petti-business which is not.

Present at the workshop was the representative of the local authority, Junior Member of Parliament for Yaounde 2, Honourable Jean Daniel OBAMA who poured out some advice to the women. He made mention of the fact that to build a successful future in Cameroon, young people must first understand their unique passions and view education not as a burden, but as a vital set of tools for personal freedom and professional competence.

Embracing failure as a necessary part of the learning process allows for the resilience needed to innovate across various sectors—from agriculture to technology—and address the specific needs of the nation. Ultimately, while mentors and leaders can provide guidance, the responsibility lies with each individual to proactively prepare, explore, and believe in their potential to create a meaningful place in the world.

“ The future is not predicted. It is prepared,” said the Junior Parliamentarian.

With experience and stories being shared, the participants expressed the desire of another training session which will go a long way to help them in their business as it aligns with the goal of TAIA which is to impact as many lives as possible. The participants were called to be guided by the slogan; ‘’work with your hands while you dream with your head’’.
