The diplomatic relationship between Cameroon and China reached a significant milestone on April 27, 2026, when the Minister of Territorial Administration – MINAT, Paul Atanga Nji, received the Chinese Ambassador, H.E. Mr. Xu Yong, in a high-level audience.
The primary focus of the meeting was the successful coordination of a massive food aid project donated by the People’s Republic of China. This generous contribution, valued at 20 million RMB (approximately 1.637 billion FCFA), consists largely of rice and is scheduled to arrive at the Port of Douala by next month.
Representing the Head of State President Paul Biya, Minister Atanga Nji expressed profound gratitude to the Chinese envoy for this humanitarian gesture. He highlighted that the donation was a testament to the strong bonds of friendship and solidarity shared between the two nations.
The Minister emphasized that such support is crucial for national welfare, reinforcing the humanitarian pillars that underpin the bilateral cooperation between Yaoundé and Beijing.
To ensure the aid reaches those in need effectively, the Ministry of Territorial Administration has already begun mobilizing specialized teams to handle the logistics. Minister Atanga Nji assured the Ambassador that all necessary arrangements are being finalized to facilitate a swift and transparent distribution process immediately upon the cargo’s arrival.
This proactive approach underscores the government’s commitment to social stability and food security across the national territory.
The audience concluded with Ambassador Xu Yong commending the Ministry for its seamless cooperation and professional diligence. This diplomatic exchange serves as a powerful symbol of a sincere and enduring partnership.
By addressing immediate nutritional needs through substantial material support, both countries continue to demonstrate their shared vision for a collaborative and prosperous future rooted in mutual respect and assistance.
