The Women’s Empowerment and Family Center in Bangem, Kupe Muanenguba Division, recently hosted the Young Stars Empowerment Day to inspire local youth to actively shape their futures.

Held under the theme “Raising Leaders: Early Skills, Values and Voice of Bangem’s Next Generation,” the event gathered over fifty young participants. Center Director Mwene Agnes Senge emphasized that the initiative aimed to equip attendees with the essential knowledge, self-reliance, and confidence required to become productive leaders capable of contributing meaningfully to community development.

During the session, Director Senge highlighted the critical role of personal values—such as discipline, honesty, respect, and hard work—in transforming young people into responsible citizens. She noted that robust youth empowerment reduces structural societal challenges like unemployment, dependency, and crime, while simultaneously fostering a culture of innovation and leadership.

To provide practical pathways for development, the center announced upcoming holiday vocational training programs covering practical fields such as tailoring, catering, hairdressing, decoration, and core entrepreneurship.

The empowerment seminar also featured insights from regional government officials who challenged the youth to leverage local resources for economic growth. Ngoupayou Marcel Hervé, the Divisional Delegate for Small and Medium Size Enterprises, Social Economy and Handicrafts, remarked that successful entrepreneurship begins with basic determination and turning personal talents into job-creating opportunities.

Additionally, Dr. Olive Ejang Tebug, the Divisional Delegate of Communication, delivered a motivational address on leadership energy, urging the participants to take constructive initiatives, cultivate positive affirmations, and actively seek out professional and moral mentors.

The event concluded with strong administrative backing and enthusiastic feedback from the young attendees. The First Assistant Senior Divisional Officer for Kupe Muanenguba, Djaone Mouigoum, commended the organizers and reminded the audience that the future advancement of the division relies heavily on the focus and determination of its youth.

Participating students expressed that the program was an eye-opening experience, noting that they gained a clearer understanding of self-confidence, early skill acquisition, and the vital role that personal discipline plays in achieving long-term career success.
