Cameroon is currently celebrating its literary season with a series of debates, readings, and other events. A highlight of this year’s season is the release of the novel “Le Testament de Charles Eboulé”, written by a Cameroonian journalist and published by Afredit Editions.
The novel explores the question of whether Africans should sacrifice their identity, authenticity, heritage, customs, and traditions on the altar of Western modernity. This thought-provoking theme was the subject of a debate last Friday, moderated by journalist Chetah Bile, with Professor Henri Ngoa Tabi and Dr. Maurice Simo Djom as panelists. The discussion focused on “For a New African Narrative: Issues and Challenges.”
These issues and challenges will continue to be explored throughout the literary season, which concludes on March 6th with a professional seminar on optimising relations between stakeholders in Cameroon’s book industry. The seminar will be held at Afredit Editions in Yaoundé.
