After several days of negotiations, Manchester United are close to making André Onana’s arrival official.
According to The Athletic, the Red devils are expected to come to an agreement with Cameroonian goalkeeper, André Onana, on a deal later today. The current Inter Milan goalkeeper is set to sign a 5-year contract with the club. The British media outlet also reports that Inter Milan are expected to agree a fee of 43 million euros with United, plus 5 million euros in bonuses. The amount is still being discussed.
An agreement is therefore imminent. According to Sky, the Cameroon goalkeeper’s move to Manchester United is well on the way. The Italian media outlet reports that a meeting between the two clubs’ directors took place in Ibiza in the last few hours, with an agreement of €50 million plus bonuses close to being reached. Erik ten Hag is familiar with Onana, having managed him for many years in Ajax Amsterdam.
Most importantly, the Indomitable Lion, who is very effective on his line, has some of the best footwork in the world among goalkeepers, a significant weakness that ultimately got the better of David De Gea. Inter are also rubbing their hands with glee. Despite losing one of the best goalkeepers in the world, the hapless Champions League finalists will realise an enormous surplus value for a player who joined for free a year ago. Hugo Lloris, Keylor Navas and Yann Sommer have all been mentioned as possible replacements.
