At the end of the national championships organised by the nation’s cycling federation, four riders stood out and pedalled faster than the rest.
The race for the national championship ended on 09 July in front of the Cameroonian Cycling Federation headquarters in Yaounde, under the watchful eye of Antoni Tabi Firsuh (Education Inspector No 2 at Minsep), representative of the minister in charge of sport.
In the senior category, Tella Artuce was the fastest. He needed just 2 h 51 ‘ 20″ over a 100 km criterium in 25 laps, with an hourly average of 35, 010 km/h to win ahead of everyone else. The SNH vélo club athlete was followed by his team-mates Clovis Kamzong Abossolo (2nd with a time of 2 h 51′ 40″) and Yaou Gadji (3rd with a time of 2 h 58′ 01″). In the junior category, Toko Eddi Stéphane was the fastest, covering a distance of 80 km in 20 laps in 2 h 26′ 24″, with an average time of 32.78 km/h, ahead of Tchumtchoua Marc from the western region (2nd with a time of 2 h 34′ 01″).
In the women’s race, Mariole Kengne Feudjio of Renaissance Vélo Club de l’Ouest, a 14-year-old pupil from G.B.HS Nguoache won the race. The reigning champion repeated the feat by swallowing 60 km in 15 laps after 2 h 20ʼ 56″ with an hourly average of 25, 543 km /h. Followed by Ariane Wegang from the Littoral region.
