Coming mostly from Nigeria, they surrendered in several waves over several weeks.

Efforts to neutralise the Boko Haram terrorist sect have just been marked by the laying down of arms by 263 former fighters. It took place between the 10th and 17th July. They surrendered at Sector 1 of the Joint Multinational Force in Cameroon.

The first wave consisted of five terrorists from Wulgo, on the border with Nigeria. Meantime, 19 more ex-soldiers surrendered their weapons in the same area, in the village of Madaya. The wave continued until July 17, with a total of 263 soldiers surrendering to the troops of Operation Hadin Kai. According to our colleagues at sources, they are all from Nigerian communities.

The Joint multinational force is continuing its assault on Boko Haram with Operation Lake Sanity 2. In a video circulating on social media and broadcast by Chadian public television, dozens of villagers shout that at least two dozen of their relatives have been killed and 12 others injured in attacks on villages along the Cameroon-Nigeria border.

The four-nation task force set up to fight terrorism in Nigeria, Chad, Cameroon and Niger said the dead seen in the video were among more than 70 Boko Haram and Islamic State terrorists neutralised.
