In a move to professionalize and elevate the ride-hailing industry in Cameroon, Yango hosted its first-ever Drivers & Partners Awards on Friday, January 9, 2026. The gala, that took place at the K-Hotel in Douala, celebrated the resilience and dedication of the people behind the steering wheel and the fleets.
The awards recognized 15 outstanding drivers and five fleet partners who have maintained high standards of service despite the evolving challenges of the urban transport sector. Distributed across three major towns- Douala, Yaounde and Bafoussam, the event celebrates local heroes, highlighting the top talent in each city.
In the economic capital Douala, a total of six persons received awards amongst which, Ismaël Ruben Niyeug Dieupe who went home with the top prize. He cited his high trip volume and operational efficiency as his keys to success. Six drivers from the Political Capital were equally celebrated with Nossi Tchoffo named the capital’s best. He shared how the platform helped him transition from treating driving as a “side hustle” to a primary, lucrative career. The remaining three that were honored came from Bafoussam with Ebenezer Yomgeu Tchoupga emerging as the city’s top performer.
The Rewards:
Beyond the prestige, winners received a mix of practical and luxury prizes, including smartphones, fuel and maintenance vouchers, and branded products. Two lucky drivers even walked away with an all-expenses-paid retreat to Kribi.
Empowering Fleet Partners
The ceremony equally shone a spotlight on the companies that manage the vehicles, honoring YFLEET, Smart Express, BestFleet Auto, BloomMove, and Empire for their commitment to fleet quality and growth.
Thierry Londo, named the Best Yango Partner in Cameroon, emphasized that the achievement was a collective victory for his entire team. As a grand prize, the two top-performing partners will travel to Abidjan for a seven-day immersion at Yango’s regional headquarters to study international best practices.
A New Era for Transport in Cameroon
The event carried significant weight following the recent official licensing of Yango by the Ministry of Transport. Clovis Pilla, Country Director for Yango Cameroon, used the platform to thank the government and reinforce the brand’s mission:
“The Yango Awards aren’t just about trophies; they are about valuing responsible driving and exceptional customer service. We are celebrating the excellence that happens on the road every single day.”
The executive of YANGO used the opportunity to call n its workers to keep up the great job as they encouraged professionalism in the dispatch of their job.
