As the saying goes: “where a road passes, development follows’, the population of the Ngaoundéré, specifically of the Ngaoundéré 3 district council, are making all ways possible to make sure their goal is attained. Faced with the advanced degradation of secondary roads that has been paralyzing traffic for a while, the municipality has signaled the end of this ordeal by launching the rehabilitation of road axes in Malang and Dang, as well as the modernization of the Dang market.
This project does not merely have as focus the construction of secondary roads and shops; it also provides a dual solution by improving the living conditions of young people and women through the creation of about 150 direct jobs and other indirect jobs that come with the project.
In order to ensure that the project is achieved, the community has adopted the High Intensity of Labor – HIMO approach, a project which benefits from an investment of 292 million CFAF from the Ministry of the Environment, planning and regional development. The peculiarity of the project is the fact that it prioritizes local intelligence and physical strength over large imported machinery. The population of Ngaoundere benefited from the working tools that were handed over to them. The tools included wheelbarrows, spades, hand gloves and hoes.
The project, which is scheduled to last 12 months, is divided into two strategic components:
First and foremost, road Component. A 5 km of linear road rehabilitation covering vital axes such as the Evangelical crossroads, Professor Nzongang crossroads, the CETIC entrance, and the agricultural post crossroads is set to be done. Secondly, it will equally focus on the Commercial Component which entails the construction of 10 shops and two latrines in the Dang market.
Furthermore, a support mechanism is planned to ensure the socio-economic integration of these young workers once the construction is completed. This initiative is the result of a convention signed on January 9, 2024, between MINEPAT and the Ngaoundéré 3rd District Council. This 292 million FCFA funding confirms the municipal leadership’s determination to transform Ngaoundéré 3rd into a hub of performance and social inclusion.
