Cameroon’s Minister of Transport (MINT), Jean Ernest Masséna NGALLÈ BIBÉHÈ, received His Excellency Michal CYGAN, Poland Ambassador to Cameroon (resident in Abuja), in an audience on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, in his cabinet.

The meeting served as a primary scouting mission for Poland, with Ambassador Cygan noting that Cameroon is the first country he has visited to explore investment opportunities. Minister Ngallé Bibéhé welcomed the delegation by praising Poland’s globally recognized expertise in high-quality infrastructure, setting a collaborative tone for the discussions.

The railway sector emerged as a top priority, with MINT technical directors presenting several ambitious projects under Cameroon’s national development plan. These include the construction of new rail lines such as Douala-Ngaoundéré, Edéa-Kribi-Campo, and Douala-Idenau, alongside the urgent rehabilitation of existing bridges and viaducts.

Beyond physical tracks, the talks touched on the acquisition of modern passenger cars and locomotives, as well as the digitalization of rail services to improve efficiency and safety across the network.

In the realm of road and air transport, the Ministry highlighted a shift towards modern technology and sustainability. The Director of Road Transport proposed a partnership agreement for “greening” the national vehicle fleet through the importation of low-emission vehicles and the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to manage road safety.

Simultaneously, the Civil Aviation Division discussed the potential for a formal Air Transport Agreement between the two nations, coupled with plans to build a world-class airport in the Littoral region and upgrade existing provincial hubs.

The maritime and meteorological sectors also saw significant interest, particularly regarding the finalization of Phase 2 of the Kribi Deep Sea Port and the development of the Limbe Deep Sea Port. Discussions extended to the security of the Cameroonian maritime flag and the provision of advanced meteorological data for better climate monitoring. These projects represent critical nodes in Cameroon’s strategy to become a regional logistics hub, offering Polish investors a wide array of entry points into the Central African market.

The audience concluded with a commitment from Minister Ngallé Bibéhé to provide the Polish embassy with a comprehensive technical file detailing the specifications of each project. Accompanied by a full suite of directors from rail, road, aviation, and planning divisions, the Minister signaled that Cameroon is ready to move from dialogue to implementation. This burgeoning cooperation promises to bring Polish technical “savoir-faire” to Cameroon’s transport landscape, fostering economic growth through modernized connectivity.
