MTN Cameroon has successfully advanced its “Ambition 2025” strategy by hosting the MTN Skills Academy at the University of Dschang, West region. This initiative focused on digital inclusion, providing 1,792 students, graduates, and young entrepreneurs with intensive, practical training.
The program was designed to bridge the gap between academic theory and the evolving demands of the modern digital economy, ultimately awarding 1,430 certifications in essential fields like cybersecurity, professional communication, and digital entrepreneurship.
The leadership behind the project emphasized its role in fostering long-term professional success. Wanda Matandela, CEO of MTN Cameroon, highlighted that the academy serves as a catalyst for innovation, while representatives from the University of Dschang praised the partnership for aligning student capabilities with market requirements.
Participants voiced out their sentiment, noting that the training shifted their perception of technology from a mere tool for entertainment to a powerful platform for learning, business, and professional growth.
By prioritizing these digital competencies, the initiative directly addresses the urgent need to reduce the digital divide within Cameroon. According to MTN management, equipping local talent with high-demand skills—such as project management, e-commerce, and digital marketing—is a critical lever for socio-economic development.
The focus remains on ensuring that the youth are not just consumers of digital services, but active, competitive contributors to an increasingly digitized national economy.
Ultimately, the success of the MTN Skills Academy underscores the transformative potential of public-private partnerships. By combining corporate resources with academic infrastructure, the project creates a scalable model for youth empowerment across the continent.
This collaborative approach is helping to prepare a resilient new generation capable of navigating the complexities of the digital age, thereby stimulating broader innovation and economic stability in the region.
