Honourable Mbe Assae Mendomo Theodore Alexandre has been laid to rest in his native village of Essong amid an atmosphere of deep emotion, solemn tribute, and a remarkable public turnout.

Before his passing, the distinguished Member of Parliament represented the Dja and Lobo constituency under the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement – CPDM. He left an indelible mark on the legislative institution, serving with distinction as the Chairman of the Committee on Economic Affairs, Programming and Regional Development, leading the Cameroon–Romania and Cameroon–Rwanda Parliamentary Friendship Groups, and actively participating in the Parliamentary Network – REPAR.

To honor his memory, a high-level delegation from the National Assembly, led by Deputy Speaker Hon. Kamssouloum Abba Kabir—the personal representative of House Speaker Right Honourable Theodore Datouo—attended the funeral ceremonies.

The late parliamentarian’s family residence in Djoum was transformed into a solemn space for mourning and reflection, welcoming various legislative colleagues, state officials, and community members. During the ecumenical service, Bishop Christophe Zoa of the Diocese of Sangmelima delivered a moving sermon, paying tribute to the late lawmaker as both a devoted family man and a deeply committed servant of the nation.

The funeral drew heartfelt eulogies from prominent national figures who lauded the late MP’s unwavering sense of duty and public service. The Minister of Finance, Louis-Paul Motaze, representing the Central Committee of the CPDM in Dja and Lobo, described him as a pillar of regional development. Further tributes came from Hon. Cabral Libii Li Ngue—representing the Central African Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Technological Innovation—and Hon. Jean Jacques Zam, who spoke passionately on behalf of the Members of Parliament from the South Region to highlight his deep responsibility and dedication to the state.

In a final message delivered on behalf of the Speaker of the National Assembly, the institution praised the late Honourable Mbe Assae as a man of profound integrity and humanity whose immense contributions will permanently shape the parliament.

Following these final, emotional tributes, lawmakers and close relatives gathered to pay their last respects as his body was lowered into the family vault during a private burial ceremony. His passing leaves a profound void within the legislature, his beloved town of Djoum, and Cameroon at large.
