The Government of Cameroon, through the Ministry of Secondary Education, has officially approved the emergency rescheduling of all remaining papers for the ongoing General Certificate of Education – GCE examination session.
Issued by the Minister of Secondary Education, Professor Nalova Lyonga, this strategic intervention follows a critical working session with the Head of the Transition Management Team of the GCE Board. During the deliberations, officials confirmed the fraudulent circulation of confidential examination questions across electronic channels and social media platforms. In response, a thorough cross-agency assessment was conducted to address the security compromise, compelling the government to institute exceptional protective measures aimed at preserving the long-term credibility, fairness, and structural integrity of the national certificate exams.
Under the newly revised academic directive, the remaining papers, which were originally slated to run from Monday, June 8th to Thursday, June 18th, 2026, have been officially deferred. These examinations will now be administered nationwide from Monday, June 22nd to Thursday, July 2nd, 2026. While the calendar dates have been shifted forward, the Ministry emphasized that all previously designated daily time-slots remain strictly unchanged. Furthermore, the authorities explicitly clarified that Technical and Vocational Education Examination – TVEE sessions are entirely unaffected by this adjustment and will proceed according to their pre-existing schedules.
As the academic community adjusts to these structural changes, candidates are strongly urged to remain calm and maintain their rigorous revision preparations. Simultaneously, the Ministry has issued strict mandates instructing school administrators, examination centre superintendents, and regional officials to cooperate fully with the GCE Board to guarantee a seamless, leak-proof transition. Comprehensive administrative and criminal investigations are currently underway to identify the definitive source and systemic extent of the digital breach.
The government has reassured the public that all individuals found responsible will be held strictly accountable under the full weight of the law, reiterating that safeguarding public confidence and guaranteeing equal opportunity for all Cameroonian students remain paramount national priorities.
