Cameroon’s Minister of Public Works, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding – MoU with the British company PROPAV Infrastructure Ltd to advance the development of the Bekoko–Limbe–Idenau road.
The strategic agreement, finalized on June 19, 2026, marks a pivotal step forward in modernizing infrastructure within the region. The partnership underscores a shared commitment to enhancing transport networks and driving regional economic growth.
The newly signed framework tasks PROPAV Infrastructure Ltd with the immediate responsibility of drafting comprehensive technical and financial proposals for the major road project. Following the signing ceremony, company officials expressed their immediate readiness to deploy resources. They pledged to swiftly initiate the necessary technical, financial, and environmental assessments required before physical field operations can commence.
The high-profile event also highlighted the strong diplomatic and economic ties backing the infrastructure initiative. British High Commissioner to Cameroon, Matt Woods, was present at the signing and officially reaffirmed the United Kingdom’s steadfast support for Cameroon’s development agenda. This international backing is expected to provide substantial institutional weight to the project as it transitions from planning to execution.
Once completed, the Bekoko–Limbe–Idenau highway is poised to significantly improve connectivity, reduce travel times, and boost trade along this vital corridor. By transforming local transit corridors into modern roadways, the collaboration between the Cameroonian government and the UK firm aims to unlock new economic opportunities for businesses and residents alike.
