In a vibrant display of discipline and digital ambition, the women of Cameroon Telecommunications (CAMTEL) joined thousands yesterday March 8 to celebrate the 41st International Women’s Day, marking a new era of female-led innovation in the nation’s tech sector.
The festivities reached a crescendo during the traditional march past at the May 20th Boulevard, where the CAMTEL delegation delivered a standout performance. Dressed in commemorative fabric, the “Amazons of CAMTEL” marched with a rhythmic precision that mirrored the company’s drive for excellence. This display of solidarity transitioned into a grand reception at the CAMTEL Club in the Dragage neighborhood, bringing together hundreds of women from both the technical engineering departments and the dynamic commercial services that form the backbone of Cameroon’s connectivity enterprise.
Addressing the gathering, the General Manager Judith Yah Sunday Epouse Achidi highlighted the transformative shift in the company’s leadership since her presidential appointment in 2018. She presented impressive data showing that women now occupy key strategic roles, including six directors and nearly fifty sub-directors and regional representatives. These professionals are no longer just supporting the infrastructure; they are at the frontline, leading the rollout of 4G and 5G networks and managing complex data centers across the country.
Guided by the 2026 theme, “Rights, Justice, Action: For All Women and Girls,” the General Manager outlined a clear roadmap for the future. She defined “Rights” as equal access to training and “Justice” as merit-based career progression. To turn “Action” into reality, she emphasized the “CAMTEL Digital Women” program, which has already equipped thousands of young girls with high-tech skills in coding and cybersecurity, effectively bridging the digital gender gap to accelerate the national economy.

Despite these achievements, the celebration carried a weighty message regarding professional ethics. The ceremony was equally an opportunity for the outstanding staff and partners of Camtel to be rewarded. 20 of them received cash prizes of 100,000frs with a kind gift that was handed over to them by the General Manager.
While rewarding meritorious participants who took part in the various week-long activities with certificates and presenting motorbikes to high-performing partner EJK, the General Manager maintained a firm stance on corporate integrity. She declared a policy of zero tolerance for “419” scams and fraud, urging the women to be the vanguard of transparency. She warned that professional misconduct undermines the collective progress and the credibility of the institution they have worked so hard to build.
The various articulation were transitioned by the intervention of some entertainment that was done by the CAMTEL band as well as some prominent comedians like ‘Edoudouard non glacé’ who thrilled the crowd with their performance.
As the ceremony moved to the merriment part, the General Manager’s closing remarks served as a final challenge to her staff, urging them to remain ambitious and confident in their technical expertise. By celebrating the resilience of its female workforce, CAMTEL has signaled that talent and performance—rather than gender—remain the true benchmarks of excellence in Cameroon’s rapidly evolving digital age.
