​Cameroon has just taken a major step forward in implementing its transport infrastructure development policy. On Thursday, June 4, 2026, a Memorandum of Understanding – MoU for the construction of the Edéa–Kribi–Lolabé–Campo railway line was signed at the Star Land Hotel in Yaounde.

​This MoU was concluded between the State of Cameroon, represented by Jean Ernest Masséna NGALLÈ BIBEHÈ, Minister of Transport – MINT, the Africa Global Logistics – AGL S.A.S consortium, and CAMALCO Cameroon S.A. This marks the official launch of a strategic partnership designed to boost national connectivity and support the country’s industrialization.

​The formal ceremony, which marks a significant breakthrough in the realization of this structural project, brought together a distinguished gathering of high-profile figures. Attendees included several Government Members, administrative, parliamentary, regional, and municipal authorities, representatives of the diplomatic corps, technical and financial partners, Board Chairpersons, Managing Directors of public and private companies, as well as representatives of socio-professional organizations.

​Project Framework and Strategic Vision
​This MoU establishes a clear collaboration framework for a public-private partnership, assigning specific responsibilities to each stakeholder. These duties include updating existing studies, Design and financial engineering
​Construction, ​Operation and maintenance of this strategic railway infrastructure. It is worth noting that the project is listed among the top priorities of Cameroon’s National Development Strategy 2030 – SND30.

​The construction of this 185 km railway line is a strategic advancement. It reflects the Government’s determination to equip Cameroon with modern infrastructure tailored to its ambitions, thereby maintaining its prime position as a logistics hub for the Central African sub-region. Ultimately, the project will facilitate the mobility of populations, boost commercial and logistical trade, and reduce transport costs.

​In his speech, the Minister of Transport specified that the success of this project depends on the dynamism and goodwill of the various stakeholders. He therefore urged them to demonstrate unwavering commitment and determination to ensure the project’s success.
