The nation of Cameroon and the people of Manyu Division in particular are in grief following the transition of Chief Senator Nfor Ndiepnso Tabetando George, His Royal Majesty of Bachuo-Ntai, who passed away on April 21, 2026.
A man of immense versatility, His Royal Majesty began his professional journey as a dedicated teacher before rising to prominence as a distinguished barrister.
On January 20, 1990, he ascended the sacred stool of his forefathers, embarking on a transformative 36-year reign characterized by a deep reverence for tradition and an unwavering commitment to the progress of the Bachuo-Ntai community.
Beyond his traditional duties, Chief Tabetando was a towering figure in Cameroon’s corporate and political landscapes. As the founder of Euroil Company in Douala, he spearheaded economic empowerment by providing employment and livelihoods for countless individuals.
His leadership extended to the highest levels of governance, where he served with distinction as a Senator and later as the Deputy President of the Senate. In these roles, he was celebrated as a voice of reason and a steadfast statesman who worked tirelessly to harmonize the sacred customs of his ancestors with the demands of modern national governance.
His Royal Majesty’s enduring legacy is etched in the educational and spiritual milestones he brought to his land, including the establishment of a Catholic Senior Seminary and the groundwork for the Agricultural Department of the Catholic University.
As a bridge between faith and culture, he remained a devout Christian while serving as the ultimate custodian of Manyu tradition. While the royal drums remain silent in his honor, the Bachuo-Ntai community and the bereaved royal family prepare to celebrate a life defined by discipline, resilience, and a profound sense of divine purpose.
